The historical Silver Spur Guest Ranch, is located on 300 acres in Bandera, Texas, is one of the finest guest ranches in the Texas Hill Country.
Yes, the Silver Spur is open year-round with the exception of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Overnight guests are welcome Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, however activities and meals will not be provided.
Most of our guests fly into San Antonio International Airport, which is located approximately 1 hour and 15 minute drive from the Silver Spur. Silver Spur does not provide shuttle service but can recommend services.
Check-in time – 3:00pm. Rooms are guaranteed to be available at 3:00pm for check-in, however guests are welcome to arrive earlier in the day to enjoy lunch, ranch amenities, horseback riding, etc. Please let us know when making your reservation if you will be arriving early for lunch and/or morning horseback rides.
Check-out time – 11:00am. Guests must check-out of their room by 11:00am, however guests are welcome to stay on the ranch for the day to enjoy lunch, afternoon horseback rides, ranch amenities and outdoor activities. Please let us know when making your reservation if you will be staying for lunch and/or afternoon horseback rides.
Our dude ranch is definitely a casual and comfortable atmosphere. Wear what you will feel most comfortable in while relaxing and if you have Western wear, bring it along and you will fit right in! Below are recommended clothing and items for optimal safety and comfort during activities on the ranch you may be participating in.
Horseback Riding:
• Jeans or riding pants
• Long sleeve shirts
• Hat, gloves, sunglasses
• A jacket for cooler weather
Hiking :
• Hiking boots or athletic shoes
• Layers for cooler weather
Swimming:
• Swimsuit
• Sunscreen

For the warmer months (May – October), we recommend packing shorts and short-sleeved shirts. For cooler months (November – April) you’ll need to pack a jacket and warmer clothes.
If needed, we have t-shirts and western hats available for purchase in our Gift Shop located in the main Lodge.
Cell phone service is very spotty on the ranch. There are certain spots that receive a better signal depending on your cell phone provider. We do have a landline available in the office located in the Main Lodge if you need to make an important phone call.
Yes, we do have satellite-based Wi-Fi available to our guests. The Lodge Ranch Room is equipped with wireless internet through a satellite dish. Bring your laptop with wireless modem and stay in touch with the outside world. Since the internet is through satellite, it can be a little temperamental with the weather.
Unfortunately, because of all the animals on the ranch, we can’t accommodate pets.
We have a variety of beer and wine available by donation – $3 per glass of wine or bottle of beer. You are also welcome to bring your own to enjoy during your stay.
We are a short 9 mile drive to the town of Bandera where you will find a hardware store, grocery store, liquor store, dollar store and a variety of small shops selling western items, clothing, boots etc.
Yes, guests may rent the entire Silver Spur Guest Ranch property for family reunions, corporate retreats and other special events such as birthdays, weddings and other celebrations. Our food is All American and Cowboy Western! Three hearty, homemade meals a day that include fresh salads, fruits, and homemade desserts and breads.
We are happy to accommodate any special dietary needs at no extra cost! We offer separate options for those of you who are gluten intolerant, vegetarian, vegan or have a food allergy. Just don’t forget to let us know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly!
Room rates include all our amenities and activities with the exception of meals, horse trail rides, and Polaris rentals.
Many of our guests experience their first horseback ride with us. We have horses that are appropriate for first time and inexperienced riders. Our experienced wranglers choose the appropriate horse for each rider and help people to feel comfortable, learn at their own pace and to ride safely. The horseback rides at the Silver Spur are scenic with our panoramic hills, meadows and areas covered with trees. We have friendly horses and the most experienced wranglers in the Hill Country, so even beginners as well as experienced riders are in good hands to enjoy the breathtaking trail rides.
For your safety and riding enjoyment, all of our riding is guided. Our wranglers know the ranch well.
Each room is equipped with a bathroom with tub shower, a closet, and air conditioning/heat. A refrigerator, ice, hairdryers and a microwave are available to our guests and are located in the Main Lodge.
The Silver Spur is a short distance of 9 miles from Bandera, Texas – the “Cowboy Capital of the World”. Other nearby popular areas to explore are Boerne (34 miles), Kerrville (34 miles), Fredricksberg (58 miles), San Antonio ( 63 miles) and Gruene/ New Braunfels (85 miles).
Riders have to be at least 6 to ride and weigh no more than 240 lbs. Buckaroo rides are available for little cowboys & cowgirls under the age of 6.
